GEO

Generative Engine Optimisation

GEO is another name for optimising your visibility in AI-generated answers: the same discipline we call AEO. Different acronym, same goal: when assistants answer your buyers' questions, you're the source they cite.

Why it matters

Mostly it matters that you not be confused by the vocabulary: GEO, AEO, AI SEO and "LLM optimisation" all describe the same emerging practice. Vendors differentiate on acronyms; the underlying work (liftable content, consistent facts, measurable citations) is one thing.

How it works

Whatever the label, the mechanics are identical: structure content so machines can extract claims cleanly, attach named expertise, keep facts consistent everywhere engines read, and measure your presence in answers to the questions that matter commercially.

What to do about it

Pick one term internally (we say AEO) and one scoreboard: citation share on your question panel. Ignore the acronym wars: watch whether the assistants name you.
