Webflow

Webflow is a visual website platform: designers build production sites in a browser canvas, and the marketing team edits and publishes without developers. We reach for it on smaller and marketing-led sites; our default recommendation is a custom build on a headless CMS (Sanity).

Why it matters

For a marketing site, speed of change is the feature that matters most. Webflow removes the deploy queue: campaigns, landing pages and copy fixes ship in minutes, hosting and security are handled, and there's no framework migration lurking in year two.

How it works

The visual canvas maps to real HTML and CSS rather than a page-builder's approximation, so designs come out clean. A built-in CMS handles repeating content like articles and case studies, and publishing is a button, not a pipeline.

What to do about it

Use it where its constraints help: content sites, brand sites, campaign sites. The moment the brief includes logged-in users or real application logic, you've left Webflow territory: build that as software instead.
