E-E-A-T

Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness

E-E-A-T is Google's shorthand for the qualities it wants in the sources it surfaces: first-hand experience, subject expertise, recognised authority, and basic trustworthiness. It's not a single ranking factor: it's the standard your content is judged against.

Why it matters

Anonymous, could-have-been-written-by-anyone content is exactly what engines are learning to skip, because it's exactly what AI can mass-produce. Named people with visible track records are becoming the tiebreaker for both rankings and citations.

How it works

Engines look for signals a careful human would: who wrote this and what else have they done, does the site say who's behind it, do other credible sources reference it, is the advice consistent with expert consensus. No single tag grants E-E-A-T; the site's whole surface does.

What to do about it

Put real names on your content, give authors real profiles, and let their beats be consistent: one person credibly owning a topic beats seven people writing everything. (It's why our articles carry the bylines they do.)
