CDN

Content Delivery Network

A CDN is a worldwide network of servers that keeps copies of your site's files close to your visitors, so a customer in Perth isn't waiting on a server in Virginia. Faster everywhere, and sturdier under load.

Why it matters

Distance is latency and latency is money: every extra beat of load time costs engagement, conversion and Core Web Vitals scores. CDNs also absorb traffic spikes and much of the hostile noise of the internet before it reaches your actual site.

How it works

Your content is cached at edge locations globally; each visitor is served from the nearest one. Modern platforms bundle a CDN by default (this site runs entirely from one), so for many businesses the right question is simply confirming it's on and configured, not buying one.

What to do about it

Test your site's speed from another continent (free tools do this). If overseas visitors matter and numbers sag with distance, a CDN (or a platform that includes one) is the fix.
